Community Garden & Composting
Rooted in the Land. Powered by the Community.

At Rosa’s Second Harvest, the garden is more than a source of fresh produce—it’s a living classroom, a community anchor, and a critical part of our food justice ecosystem. Nestled just a few blocks from our distribution hub, our ¼-acre garden is designed to grow not just vegetables, but skills, confidence, and connection. It provides nutritious food for our mobile markets, training opportunities for residents, and nutrient-rich compost that supports regenerative farming. Composting helps us close the loop—turning unsellable food into healthy soil, reducing methane emissions, and honoring the full cycle of nourishment.
Our garden is designed to serve both practical needs and deeper community goals. We use organic, low-waste methods to grow produce that supplements our mobile markets and food rescue efforts. Unsellable food is never wasted—it’s composted on-site to enrich the soil and reduce landfill emissions. Through hands-on learning, seasonal workshops, and neighborhood leadership, we’re cultivating more than just crops—we’re nurturing a regenerative, community-led food system.
