Rosa’s Second Harvest is rooted in the belief that no edible food should go to waste while neighbors go hungry. In rural Georgia, farms often produce more than the market can absorb—yet barriers in cold storage, transportation, and logistics prevent surplus from reaching those who need it most. Our food rescue and recovery efforts bridge this gap by creating a community-centered system that captures, preserves, and redirects nutritious food to local families. This approach not only addresses food insecurity but also reduces landfill waste and supports more regenerative, community-based food systems.

Food Rescue & Recovery
Nourishing Communities, Empowering Lives
How we turn overlooked produce into opportunity—rescuing “ugly” food to nourish our neighbors and protect the planet.

Our refrigerated vehicle collects perishable goods safely and efficiently for redistribution through mobile markets.
Sort, Preserve, and Store at Our Hub
Rescued produce is brought to our site at 103 Commerce Street, where it is washed, sorted, and stored in cold storage or processed in our commercial kitchen.
Track Impact with Data Tools
We log pounds rescued, partners engaged, and community reach using intake forms, route logs, and CRM software for continuous improvement.
Get Involved in Food Rescue & Recovery
Every pound of rescued food is a step toward a healthier, more sustainable community—and you can be part of it.
